AirLink101 AWLL6075 Wireless N Mini USB Adapter Review

AirLink101 AWLL6075 Wireless N Mini USB Adapter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For those of you using Windows or Mac OS X, I have no idea how this thing works. I am writing this for those who may be interested in using it on Linux.
I got this because the price couldn't be beat for the feature set. While USB Wi-Fi adapters tend to be much cheaper than their PCMCIA counterparts, this one has an especially good feature set for the price I paid. And it is not nearly so massive as the others I have seen.
I ordered this based on reviews of a different version of the AirLink101. The numbers following ("AWLL6075") are important in determining compatibility. Turns out the model AWLL3026 works out of the box with modern Linux distributions. However, no driver has been written to support the AWLL6075.
I tried using the supplied drivers with ndis wrapper. I could talk to the device, and it reported finding hotspots, but it never connected. Perhaps others may have more luck with this approach, but I wanted to let other Linux users who were considering this option that this is not yet a simple plug-n-play solution as I had anticipated due to my inadequate research.
I will write again if support gets added to update my experience.

Cisco-Linksys Refurbished Wireless-N USB Adapter Review

Cisco-Linksys Refurbished Wireless-N USB Adapter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First off let me say that I do not write reviews for products, almost ever.
Connection:
This wireless adapter that Linksys made is the best adapter out there IMO. I was doubtful at first, I am used to internal pci card wireless adapters, not usb dongle adapters. After setting up the adapter with its drivers from the CD. I was up and running. Bittorrent speeds are around 1.3 MB /sec (yes Megabyte), which is the full download speed of my connection. It does, both spectrums to connect to the router at 300 Mb from the other side of the house. Even my laptop cant connect at that speed that far away. If your having issues make sure your router is set up for dual 20 MHz + 40 MHz, for optimal configuration with all wireless N devices.
Setup:
Setup was a breeze, took about 10 minutes. I didn't run the linksys setup utility, I told the add hardware wizard in XP to search the CD for drivers, it found one and installed with no hassle. If your using an older version of XP SP1, SP2 you may have to install the utility in order to be able to communicate with your router. Earlier versions don't have WPA2 listed as an authentication type.
Design/Appearance:
The adapter is sleek, cool black, and comes with an usb dongle do you can keep it standing up on the desk. It has a single blue activity led that flashes a bit, but isn't annoying.
Price:
Well for a refurbished product, the price is very reasonable and attractive. Linksys sells these new for much more, which is not worth it because the quality of this refurbished product is amazing.
Verdict:
If you are looking for a good laptop or desktop wireless adapter, you have to try this one, you will be stunned into loving it.

This product works flawlessly straight out of the box. The installation was a snap. It works best with the small usb extension provided. I use it with an old Dell laptop to connect it to my new D-Link615 router. It connects my network between two buidings separated by a small area of tropical rain forest, a distance of more than three hundred feet, and through three concrete walls.I like the AES encryption for the enhanced security. This has got to be the best product for the price. I was really impressed with the performance..

Dual Panda Wifi (b/g/n) 150Mbps Wireless-N 2.4GHz USB Adapters (One in White & One in Black) - Windows 7, Mac OS X and Fedora Linux Compatible Review

Dual Panda Wifi (b/g/n) 150Mbps Wireless-N 2.4GHz USB Adapters (One in White and One in Black) - Windows 7, Mac OS X and Fedora Linux Compatible
Average Reviews:

I purchased this product solely because of its compatibility with Mac OS X, as my internal wireless card is "unpredictable" at best. However, I couldn't figure out which driver to use to install the Panda USB because the Mini CD that ships with the package is not readable by the internal CD/DVD drive found in my MacBookPro -- the drive doesn't have a retractable tray to which the mini disk can be coupled. Thus began my aggravations with the purchase of this adapter. The website for this product at [...] has the drivers for Mac, Linux, and Windows but no instructions to follow for installation. That's helpful. I was glad to download the driver over a 15k link if I could only tell what driver number applies to my wireless device. There is not a mention of the manufacturers model number anywhere on the adapter, on the packaging, or in the brief brochure that is included in the retail box. Once I am able to figure out that this card is RT3070 and download the software, the device remains unusable. The Ralink wireless manager software reports that the card is connected to my network, yet my ISR/access point does not show an association, and consequently an IP address isn't assigned to the device. However, there is no convincing the proprietary wi-fi manager that the adapter isn't actually associated. Lovely. Thinking that I may be able to use it on the Linux OS that dual boots on my laptop, I load up Fedora 11 and download the Linux driver from the RaLink website. Too bad that I cannot figure out how to get the installation going now that I have the driver. I don't know if it is not compatible with my distro or what. And where are the customers supposed to get the supposed one year technical support? The link from the manufacturers website immediately prompts the end user for username and password credentials without providing a link for one to use to create an account. I give up -- its a loss and a total waste of money. Had I known about the shoddy support and lack of documentation I would not have taken a chance on this product, let alone its inability to function in the Mac OS X environment. Caveat Emptor.

I received my adapter before the wireless router (also EnGenius) and setup an ad hoc connection. Windows 7 found the adapter right after I connected it to a usb port. It is a small but stylish adapter. I like everything about it. After that it was just a matter of using Windows 7 Network and Sharing Center to setup the connection.
Of course, once the router arrived, it was a snap to setup the network, since Windows 7 had no problems finding the adapter and router. To setup a network using a router, plug in the wireless adapter and then follow the instructions for setting up the router. Easy installation and use, and low price makes each EnGenius product an excellent value.

AirLink101 AWLL5088 Wireless N 150 Ultra Mini USB Adapter Review

AirLink101 AWLL5088 Wireless N 150 Ultra Mini USB Adapter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had a customer's internal wireless card fail, and found this easier and cheaper. The size is as people say- right about the size of a quarter, and it sticks out of the USB port by less than half a centimeter. This is FAR less annoying to deal with than a typical USB flash drive size adapter or a PC card adapter that sticks out and can get snapped off easily by just one careless bump.
Installation was normal- installed it on a low-end Compaq laptop running 2GB RAM and Windows 7 Ultimate. Put it in the USB port, popped the CD in when Windows asked for a driver and it did it's thing.
The reviewer that reported a poor speed hopefully got one from a bad batch, because mine was right at 150Mbps when one wall away, and fluctuated between 54-105 when three walls away. Throughput was a steady 20Mbps or more [this is file transfer speed, etc., a different spec than connection speed]. I was completely satisfied and do was my client. I just ordered another for a Sony laptop with Windows XP, I'll post another review or edit this one later on.

Attempted installation on new Windows 7 Professional 64 bit build. Note that I had already installed a different model wireless adapter that worked fine, but wanted to try this adapter to see if signal strength could be improved. I have used/installed numerous adapters over the years on many different operating systems, so I have a pretty good idea on how to do it. This adapter would simply not work, period. I run a secured wireless network in my home (Linksys Super-G). I bought this adapter for use with an older laptop, which had USB 1.0 ports. On the same network my new laptop's onboard wireless gets 5 bars, this adapter with the old laptop picks up 4. I haven't had any connection dropping problems though. This past weekend I started a 27.3GB set of file transfers when I left for the day, it finally finished 12 hours later. That seems relatively slow, but I never notice much speed lag when I'm surfing the net. I've been impressed with how it's worked considering the laptop is almost a relic; and it nice to be able to get a guest's machine online by letting them borrow the adapter in the house.

So far, the product is working properly for me, and the product arrived sooner than I expected. I needed this product to provide wifi to my nintendo ds, because I did not want to take the security off my router, or switch to WEP. Here is what I did to set mine up, not sure if it will work for everyone, some of these WLAN products and drivers are strange.
1. Plugged the device into computer, and I ignored the "Found new hardware" thing that popped up from windows.
2. Inserted disc that came with product, and opened the files up from the D drive. I thin went into the wifi folder that was on the disc, and the the setup in admin mode. (I'm on vista 32 bit btw)
4. from there I just allowed the setup to run, and restarted my computer to finalize installation.
5. I opened the program and clicked the Mode tab at the top, and switched it to Access Point.
6. I think clicked the ICS tab, and applied it to my computers source of internet. (my ethernet cord.) From there I was able to successfully make a connection with the DS Lite.
I can't figure out how to change the SSID name, it takes the name of whatever you have your computer named as.

150Mbps Micro Nano Size Wireless N 802.11n/g WiFi WLAN USB 2.0 Network Adapter Dongle
Average Reviews:

History has shown that we Mac owners tend to get left out in the rain when it comes to product compatibility. Naturally, I was initially skeptical when I placed my order for this little dongle. Faced with a MacBook Pro Unibody hosting a fried WiFi card and a $100 repair bill (not including labor), I was looking for every, and any, solution available. Call me surprised.
The dongle itself is cast in a slightly cheap-ish white plastic housing with a built-in green LED status light. It looks robust enough to take some good whacks, but probably not a direct drop (though I doubt any USB would). It extends about 7mm out from the side and is very secure. No wiggle and a firm fit in the port. The included mini install CD won't work in a slot-loaded drive, but their website was very user friendly and had downloads for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Once downloaded, the setup was very simple and had drivers for both PPC and Intel machines. The only caveat is that the Apple AirPort Utility is bypassed while their own Wireless Network Utility is used instead. Connection to my home's AirPort network was very fast and, dare I say it, quicker than the built-in WiFi, while actual throughput was identical. Range was also on-par with my prior 802.11N setup.
On the whole, I'd highly recommend this adapter to anyone looking at a steep laptop repair bill!

Hercules Wifi N Mini USB Key Review

Hercules Wifi N Mini USB Key
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bought this because of the "N" speed and sitting near my router it is nearly as fast as my wired connection (speakeasy.net). However, where I am using it upstairs, it is useless. I believe the reason is that it is so small that it has no antenna length no matter how many times they wrap it around the unit internally. My larger "G" USB unit works fine (I was hoping for a speed increase)but this one just can't cut it. Gave it 3 stars anyway because if you are close to the source, then it's fine. Also, software installed flawlessly and worked well with XP and Windows 7.

Hercules launches compelling products which have been fastidiously researched in terms of performance and produced with quality in mind. Based on the new WiFi 802.11n standard, the key allows for data rates of up to 300Mbps* (required by the 11n standard): that\'s 5.5 times as fast as the previous 802.11g standard. These data rates allow users to watch HD movies and enjoy music with 5.1 sound, surf the Internet and play online games... all simultaneously and with no slowdowns. Its incredibly small size, only 1.5 x 2.2cm (without the USB connector), makes it easy to transport, allowing users to always enjoy the best data rates on their PC: the ideal solution for laptop PCs. Equipped with 2 integrated MIMO antennas, this key allows users to access even very remote WiFi networks, whether 11n or 11g ("box" or router). Connection to the network is now ultra-simple thanks to the WPS button**, which has now become a standard, certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance and already featured in the entire Hercules 11n product range. I had ordered a mini wireless USB adapter for 33 dollars thinking it was cheaper than the most.It did not work, it detected 2 connections and the quality of signal was bad.I was not able to go online with that adapter.I returned it and looked for a cheaper but more useful alternative.I found this after reading about Alfa antenna adapters.Alfas were more expensive (30-40 dollars) and I did not want to spend that much because I did not want to have a costly non-functioning adapter.I wanted to give this a chance instead since it was 12.99.If it did not work, it was no big deal.
WOW! It does work great. While the previous adapter detected only 2 networks, this detects 5-6 networks and the signal quality is good (60-80%.It stays connected at a decent speed.
I highly recommend this adapter for people who need more and reliable reception at a value price.
The only possible disadvantage of this adapter is its antenna protrusion. If you have preschoolers like I do, they might bump into it and break it.Apparently you can not have it all (perfect reception+ultra-compact design+good price) at once.
So far I am very happy with my purchase. Thanks to Amazon (for free super saver shipping) and the vendor.

I'm using two of these cards, one in a Windows 98 SE system and one in a Windows XP system, to top it off they all go through an Apple Airport Base station and link with my Apple iBook. Using WEP, too, with the hex key produced by the Base station. Working fine!
