Epson WorkForce 325 Color Inkjet All-in-One (C11CB08201) Review

I dreaded setting up this Epson WorkForce 325 Color Inkjet All-in-One simply because every foray I take into printer or peripheral set up leads to endless detours, earmarking manuals, contacting customer service, etc. Well, not this time, so the relative ease of getting this printer out of the box to actual printing is the first plus in its favor.
There were a couple of set up issues that delayed the process just a bit. Chief among these was having a single phone jack available for the DSL line and the fax connection, but swapping these out when adding the printer and fax to my list of printing devices eventually worked. The set up instructions were otherwise simple and straightforward.
The printer itself is all black and the controls are easily read and accessed on the front panel. The ports for connecting fax and USB cables sit on the back left and are easy enough to access. Loading cartridges was a snap, literally.
I set the printer up to run wirelessly though right now it sits adjacent to our main computer and could be connected via USB. But I want to have it untethered if I need the desk space, and the wireless capability is the key reason I have this printer so we can also print from other computers or iPods. So far, printing is fast and the text and images crisp enough for typical home and office use. I printed a color image to see how fast the ink would dry, and to my surprise, I could not smear the ink.
The scanning feature worked as it should during my initial test using PhotoShop to import a photo from the flatbed scanner. The process was faster than I expected. Ditto copying---no problem.
So far, so good as I put this printer through its paces. I have not yet tried the fax feature, but that was not really a make or break feature for me. But this is a rather loud device, no matter what it is doing. It snatches the paper loudly as the internal mechanics whir and zip, and it is impossible not to lose one's train of thought when printing because of the various sound the printer emits.
I'm pleased with mine and if the printer is not an ink hog and proves durable, I expect to be using it for quite some time.

HP OfficeJet 7210 All-in-One Printer, Fax, Scanner, Copier Review

About 2/3 of the reviews I saw on amazon were very complimentary, but I was reluctant to purchase the hp 7210 after seeing some negative reviews about installation, software, etc. Luckily, I saw a pc world review which rated this product as the finest in this price range. They were right (at least for someone with a two year old DELL Dimension with Windows XP and all of the recent OS updates).
Amazing copy quality, great color copying and scanning, installation took about an hour and was easy (I don't fax much, so I don't feel qualified to comment on this part).
I highly recommend this all-in-one product for home and small office use.
