I have a remote office without internet, been using a USB 'Ego' card, this little device just made my while world so much easier, now I can use my office laptop, ipod, printer, share network with visitors when they are in town on business. Battery life is good, I have used in excess of 5 hours but never let it drain all the way, too easy to just plug into laptop while it is sitting on the desk. Even leave it on too and from work, so I can continually get updates while I am stuck in traffic or have to run to a meeting before or during work hours.
Device is a bit bigger than some of the new little "mifi" boxes but less than half the price, great range on the wireless N, and great battery life. no complaints. If you go to product webpage they have full listing of compatible USB devices.

Your result will vary STRICTLY based on VERIZON COVERAGE IN YOUR AREA.
I believe that the operation and connectivity functions of the MiFi device deserve 5 stars. The configuration page (accessible at 192.168.1.1 when connected to the MiFi) allows you to encrypt your connection and even setup a MAC filter. Unfortunately you cannot change the DNS servers at the device level (but of course can still do this through your computer's connection settings).
The signal to and from the device is strong enough to put the MiFi under your seat, in your pocket, etc and still maintain a fast connection.
The battery life will vary based on what you are doing online. Streaming audio and video will shorten battery life quicker than checking email, looking up web pages, etc. This is an easy fix if you are in a vehicle: plug in a cigarette lighter adapter or even plug in the USB cord to your computer or laptop inverter to keep it charged and running all day long.
The only real con that comes up on a regular basis is a fairly small one... the blinking activity light on the MiFi is so bright, it is distracting in a dark vehicle. I wish they had instead set up a solid green "connected" light similar to the one that is on the Apple Airport Extreme Router.
Overall, with good Verizon service, definitely worth the purchase and ridiculous price Verizon charges for the service.
*NO cellular device or service is going to be able to stream uninterrupted audio and or video while you are traveling. As you leave cities and regions, your device will lose service while it is searching for the next tower, etc. Your best bet if you want smooth audio and or video is to stick with satellite radio or portable satellite TV, downloaded podcasts and videos, etc. However, if you are commuting back and forth in a metro area or staying in the same basic spot (parking lot, etc) this is fantastic for video and audio streaming and everything else.

(More customer reviews)Everywhere that we have used our Virgin Mobile Mifi, it has worked great. $40 a month unlimited internet with no contract, and the ability to only pay for it the months you use it, is the best deal out there. I highly recommend this device.
One note that you might not be aware of. None of the Mifi 2200's (for any carrier) can be used while they are connected to a computer's USB. The data connection to the computer shuts the Wifi off. There are three solutions. 1) If you use the Mifi on battery this isn't an issue (obviously) 2) If you use the Mifi plugged into a wall or car charger, with no data connection to a computer, this isn't an issue. 3) If you buy a "Power-Only", no data, USB cable, or modify your USB cable to remove the data connection, you can power it off your computer and still use the Wifi.

What this does?
It helps anyone who has a SIM Card with 3G services enabled to connect up to 5 PC's/Mac's/Wifi devices to the internet
Complexity in setting up?
i would say about 6/10 in terms of how easy/hard this is. You have to understand that the 3G sim cards (depending which carrier you have)
will have a profound impact on how quickly you can set this up.
How to set up?
* If your carrier is not enlisted in the default options on the device, you just need to contact your SIM provider and ask for an APN#
* The WIFI setup is very easy and you just need to pick a name (that is SSID) and a new password for everyone you want to access the internet
* If you intend to use this device indefinitely, then i suggest you configure it first and then connect it to the AC electrical charger
The Situation
Since i don't have the capability to bring DSL or WyMAC or etc etc. in my area, this little GEM was a GOD send! I really wanted the ubiquitous internet access in my apartment which would hook up 3 Mac's/apple TV and a Nintendo WII. This thing is fast and a solid build!
Bottom Line:
If you stuck like me with internet but can access only though your cell phone = get it
If your area does not have any other internet access points = get it
If you frequently travel and need instant net access = get it
If you have less than 5 devices simultaneously needing internet access = get it
