This cable is the earlier version of the cable. The cable is actual copper verses the new ones which are copper clad version. This cable weighs about 30 percent more than the copper clad version. Any question on what this means - search Google for phrase "The American market was flooded with copper clad cable imported mostly". If the cable you purchase does NOT have E201403 and LL109448 printed on it, then you have bought a counterfeit cable. (More customer reviews)Beware buying this product from the vendor "Citi Electronics." They shipped me generic no-name brand cables, instead of the unique Cables-To-Go snagless custom boots. The "generics" are like typical Ethernet cables with the thick molded boot that fully encapsulates the plastic tab used to unlock the cable from a jack. I've found trying to press on this thick "thumb bump" boot to push on the tab difficult to use and sometimes I have to pull the boot back in order to press directly on the tab to properly disengage it. It seems these generic boots are just too large and may actually be pressed up against the jack housing causing tension on the jack and making disengagement harder (hence my need to peel back the boot or forcibly push the cable further into the jack to unload the tension on the tab).
Which is why I now use the Cables-To-Go snagless versions as it uses a light and small vinyl flap that rests on the plastic locking tab to aid in disengaging yet allows easy unobstructed view and access to this tab to ensure you are properly disengaging it without adding any stress or tension to the connection.

(More customer reviews)This cable is great and was much more cost effective than outdoor Cat6 cable. I wired 2 rooms of my house and much of the cable is running outside of the house with many bends. There were NO data issues at all. I primed and painted all cable that is outside exposed to the sun so that the sunlight doesn't ruin the cable which is not certified for outdoor use. So far it's been fine in 20-90 degree weather and I don't foresee any issues ever now that it's painted.
I only run a 100mb network with very heavy video loads from my HTPC to my XBOX in another room, and I am AMAZED how well my newly wired house network performs now. I cut this cable into 40' runs and wired 2 rooms to the room with the cable modem using wall keystones at all connections. Everything worked perfectly and I now have a fully wired ethernet house that looks great. I can't tell you how nice it is and the video quality from the PC to the XBOX is far superior to wireless. Goodbye data loss, I love this cable and the price was great.
I can't wait to use this cable with a gigabit network but gigabit routers aren't cheap enough yet and I haven't hit a bottleneck yet with the 100mb network with even with current heavy use.

(More customer reviews)I bought these Belkin cables. They are very nice quality. They seem heftier than a lot of the other cables. My system analyst neighbor mentioned that he prefers to buy the 1000 foot roll. He runs them to wall outlets, then uses the 7 foot or 14 foot snap in cable from the wall to the PC. That way, you don't have to buy a 40 dollar crimping tool.
You can't solder these cables. They require a metal to metal contact, and lead-solder doesn't qualify. Also, it is critical to keep them spiraled, all the way up to the end. Even when attaching, instructions call for twisting them right up to the connection.
Since the tech instructions, tell you to keep them down to under 350 feet, these cables, whether they are long or short, are in the right lengths.
I know Amazon doesn't print prices in their reviews, but they have the local major chain office supply stores beat hands down. The 50 foot roll was half again as much locally.
These are the Category 5e cables. They give you a better return feed, which results in better overall performance. So insist on 5e instead of just 5. I initially bought some wall plates from (a nation wide electrical supply store) that were Category 3, then I returned those for the snap in option Category 5. Those were returned also, when I went to (a nation wide building supply center)... (of all places to go networking) and they had the complete Leviton line of 5e accessories.
If I had to do it over again, I would still buy the Belkin 50 footers. I don't want to have a 500 foot roll of ethernet cable hanging around.
These are tops. Gold plated connectors, Snag free ends, that protect that little lock in tab on the ends. You know the frustration of unsnarling a phone wire, out of a wiring mess, and the little tab bends over backwards, never to work properly again. Well Belkin built twin arches over the sides to prevent just that. Way to go. Highly recommended, good stuff, for a good price.
